Houston has inaugurated the first Ismaili Center in the United States and the seventh in the world. The complex is part of the international network of institutions promoted by Karim al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV (1936–2025), creator of a prestigious triennial architecture award. His legacy continues under the leadership of his son, Prince Rahim al-Hussaini, Aga Khan V. Conceived as a space for prayer, gathering, and understanding between different communities, the building expresses a dialogue between tradition and modernity.
