Love Among The Ruins: George Baker on the LACMA Remodel

WHAT SHAPE IS the new David Geffen Galleries building at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)? It is surprisingly hard to tell. Peter Zumthor’s design hoists a serpentine platform atop pavilions that read like stout, truncated legs, making the edifice almost creaturely in its architectural stance.
