The Menil Drawing Institute, designed by Johnston Marklee, is a serene, light-filled pavilion nestled within the Menil Collection campus in Houston. Dedicated to the study and exhibition of modern and contemporary drawings, the building features a low, pavilion-like profile, delicately integrated with the surrounding landscape. Its understated, white-painted exterior and precisely framed courtyards create a quiet, contemplative atmosphere, while diffused natural light permeates the interiors—carefully calibrated to protect delicate works on paper.
