At Tippet Rise Art Center in the vast Montana landscape, Ensamble Studio has created a series of monumental site-specific sculptures—Structures of Landscape—that blur the line between architecture, land art, and geology. Designed by Antón García-Abril and Débora Mesa Molina, the works are cast directly from the earth, forming rugged yet deliberate spaces that seem to emerge from the ground itself.
Among them, Beartooth Portal, Domo, and Inverted Portal use concrete poured into soil molds to capture the terrain’s raw texture. These sculptural shelters frame views, invite acoustic performance, and offer refuge—functioning as both primal architecture and poetic landform.
