White Cube, Green Maze: New Art Landscapes Heinz Architectural Center at the Carnegie Museum of Art
Today a new type of museum is emerging-one that fuses inventive architecture and landscape design with radical conceptual and installation art. These sites typically mix old and new, featuring collaborative plans by several designers and encouraging exploration outdoors. White Cube, Green Maze: New Art Landscapes presents six such sites from around the globe: The Olympic Sculpture Park (USA); Stiftung Insel Hombroich (Germany); Benesse Art Site Naoshima (Japan); Instituto Inhotim (Brazil); Jardin Botanico de Culiacan (Mexico); and Grand Traiano Art Complex (Italy). The exhibition includes models and drawings by architects and landscape architects (see list below). Renowned photographer Iwan Baan has photographed all six sites for the exhibition and for the catalogue, which also features texts by Raymund Ryan, Brian O’Doherty and Marc Treib.
