Instituto Inhotim, located in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, is one of the world’s largest open-air museums, uniquely combining contemporary art and botanical gardens. Founded by Bernardo de Mello Paz and officially opened in 2006, Inhotim spans 140 hectares of lush landscape at the intersection of the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado biomes.
The institute houses over 700 artworks by more than 60 artists from nearly 40 countries, displayed across outdoor installations and dedicated gallery spaces. It is also home to a botanical collection of over 4,300 rare plant speciesfrom around the world. Operated as a non-profit organization, Inhotim is funded by public and private donations, ticket sales, and cultural incentives, offering visitors a singular experience where art and nature coexist.
