Set in the rolling landscape of Napa Valley, the Kramlich Residence, designed by Herzog & de Meuron, is more than a home—it’s a living museum. Conceived over two decades, it reflects the Kramlichs’ deep commitment to media art, serving as a pioneering space where art and life intertwine.
With 8,000 square feet of adaptable galleries, the residence is finely tuned to the spatial, acoustic, and technical demands of time-based artworks. Each piece is viewed individually, at its own rhythm, encouraging focused, immersive experiences. While there are moments of separation between domestic life and exhibition space, the architecture invites a fluid coexistence, offering a new model for collecting and living with media art.
